Rivet & Del is a small business handcrafting leather products on the Far South Coast near Tathra. The business was established in Jindabyne in 2017 when we started making leather products whilst working in the area. We commenced selling our products at the Snowy Mountains Visitors Centre and also attended local markets in the area.
In 2024 we returned to our property on the Far South Coast near Tathra and continue to create our quality leather goods at this beautiful location.
Our products are designed to be functional with longevity of life, using only ethically sourced natural or up-cycled materials and fibres.
We love animals but also care greatly about the environment. Therefore, we are happy to use leather, rather than see it go to waste. Being a natural product, leather is not perfect and will have marks and scars that tell the story of an animal that once lived, a story that cannot be told by machines or manmade materials.
Thank you for shopping small business.
How it started
The purchase of an old rivet machine found on Gumtree, is what kicked off our leather production. We had been playing around with leather craft and stumbled upon this add for a very old rivet machine in the local area. Curiosity tempted us to find out more about this machine.
Turns out this beast of a rivet machine had served many years in a belt factory in Melbourne and then placed in storage when the factory closed.
Included in the price was a number of genuine leather hides, an assortment of belt hardware plus lots more. The leather hides got us so home we went with these beautiful hides along with this relic of a machine in our horse float.
Little did we know at the time that this rivet machine would become an integral part of our business.
